That saddest part of when Larry killed his Robo-Man-ed version of his brother Phil, Phil's last word was 'Larry?', so he remembered him right before dying. š

Not only the post apocalyptic environment, but also the character moments, both for the main cast and the side characters. That scene with the women who turn Barbara and Jenny in is really quite disturbing, and reminiscent of desperate "collaborators" in Nazi occupied Europe only a few years before this was filmed. As for the plan to move the Earth, you may recall in The Stolen Earth the 10th Doctor mused that someone had tried to move the Earth before. He was referring to this, and so you could think of it as their first attempt at creating the Reality Bomb. The Doctor's speech to Susan at the end is so iconic, and still moves me today. And before that when talking to her outside you can see him getting quite emotional as he realises Susan wants to stay with David and he'll have to leave her. I genuinely think that is also Hartnell getting choked up in what is his last scene with Carole Ann Ford. One of the best stories of Hartnell's era.
