Just a little knowledge I found out when this came out was that I looked up Jeffrey Mace and he was a character in the comics who took the mantle of Captain America for a while (when Steve was still frozen, I think). He didn't have any powers, but not all people that have picked up that mantle did. I'd heard there have been at least 15 different people that have used the name Captain America for a while (some future versions or alternative versions), not all good (check out The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for the most famous example of not a good fit), but Mace was a good guy. After he stopped being Captain America, he did go by "The Patriot." It's a pretty deep cut of a name though. Most people didn't recognize the name when it was revealed, although I did see a few YouTube videos of some who knew. I just used to look up prominent character names to see if they were already established comic characters.
