This is absolutely the best episode so far from this era. Not too much that I disliked. Could of done without the exposition style again. But even that was very minor. Probably only more of a noticeable gripe because of it's over use in a lot, if not all of the other episodes. More of a "there it is again!" kind of situation, that only serves to take me out of the moment rather than enrich it. A chilling Cyberman creation that simply just works. A performance with builds on that foundation. Most of my previous gripes about the companions and their under use and under development still feels relevant again. But the bigger plot point does a good enough job to minimise that as a distracting issue.

She feels a lot more grounded here with an authoritative dominance that I hope we get more of. The supporting cast are great, full of strong personalities especially Byron, Polodori and Mary Shelly. While the companions don't do much of significance, they are still integrated well in the narrative and have good moments with the supporting cast. 13 snapping at them is a highlight because it actually showcases a bit of conflict between her and the companions. One of the main issues I've had with the Chibnall era is that we've never seen proper development of the character bonds or clashes between The Doctor and her companions so it's really refreshing to see tensions rise. I was hoping Yaz would argue more with her on that front after she told her about Jack's warning regarding the lone cyberman but I still like it. Speaking of the lone cyberman, this also showcases one of the best portrayals of the Cybermen. The Lone Cyberman was really threatening and scary especially with the scenes with him killing the maid, holding the baby and the way he was targeting Percy Shelly. I was never a fan of the Cybermen stories in the Moffat era (with the exception of Series 10) so this was a really good surprise for me considering its coming from the Chibnall era. It strikes a really good balance with gothic horror and history. I genuinely hope we get more episodes like this in the future.
