Classic Doctor Who 5x05 "The Web of Fear" eps 1-2 full reaction

"Doesn't it strike you as odd that on the two occasions you've encountered the Yeti, you've also come across the Doctor?"

Here's a link to a synopsis of The Abominable Snowmen, the first time they met Yeti and Dr Travers, most of the episodes are still sadly missing. https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/The_Abominable_Snowmen_(TV_story) Just don't read the story notes at the end, as there may be a risk of spoilers there. But none in the main episodes summaries. They are safe to read. And I think it is still planned to be released in animated form sometime this year (sadly if it is its the last of the animated ones) so up to you if you want to wait and watch it then. Also hats off to the design team on this story, they made the underground sets so well the actual London Underground got angry about the BBC filming in the tunnels without permission, until the BBC showed them they were just sets they had built. When you can fool the real deal you know you've done a good job. The music is also superb, particularly the short piece that plays when we first see Victoria alone in the tunnels looking for the Doctor (if it sounds familiar it might be because it also appears as a repeating motif, slightly tweaked, in the Alien score, which may be deliberate as Ridley Scott worked at the BBC at nearly got the job to design the Daleks for their first appearance, and Alien is also thought by some to be influenced by a later Who story).

One of the all time greats in the Troughton Era. I remember watching this six part story when it was first broadcast. The Web Of Fear is a triumph of production design, ie the London Underground Stations and Tunnels superbly realised. The acting top notch, an inventive script and excellent direction by the late great Douglas Camfield.
