I get what y’all are thinking about Kamala letting everyone know for their own safety, but safety from whom? The xenophobic Damage Control lady ready cuff the entire community, or the inter dimensional djinn ready to kill the entire community? Lol… i think this show does a terrible job at showing just how much pressure is being placed on Kamala. It kinda waltzes through all of these dynamics with an attitude of a fairy god parent, making you feel as though she should feel obligated and respected enough to talk because just look at how caring and loving her circle is, right? Nah. Kamala is living her immediate family’s nightmare: this fanciful budding superhero lifestyle that she’s always dreamed of. But also, the secret life that got her (great?)grandmother blamed for much of the family’s negative experiences during Partition, whom everyone around her has excommunicated themselves from. The Partition discussion is understated throughout the show. We’re talking millions dead and displaced from 1947-1971-1999-today. It wouldn’t surprise me if Partition is the reason her family is stateside. So yeah. Imagine telling this extra traditional family that these supernatural clandestine pre-Islamic djinn from another dimension are after you in order for you to teleport them across space time AND you have Damage Control harassing your small Muslim community all because you have your grandmothers bangle and are probably an inhuman mutant… what’s the most obvious response they’re going to have, especially because they haven’t seen any of the opposing forces in action themselves? Now her telling her best friend? That’s a different story. She deserves to know because she’s actively trying to change things and anything Kamala does can affect that.
