The president of Gaid could have been talking about his own family. Kids and wife that he had that were lost in the war. I don't think that a person that's going to stop kids from fighting in a war is bad. From his point of view and everything he learned about how they were treated shows his compassion. But they want to go back an fight is really because its all they really know how to do. He gave them a chose which is more than they got before.

2022-07-05 04:31:44 +0000 UTCWith Lena, the whole hair thing is somewhat of a statement, but it’s also a remembrance to Spearhead after their departure as well as the many 86ers that have died in battle. The black uniform is obvious: mourning. One of the drunks at the start said so when she was passing them. The anime doesn’t explain it as well compared to the LN but the reason for Shin and co’s survival isn’t plot armour, but more so that Rei saved them. It’s very subtle but Rei wearing that knight armour from the previous episode and this showcases how he went and saved them. How? He was able to transfer to another Dinosauria (the Legion you see when Ernst is passing with that group) to be able to save Shin and the others, bringing them close to the Federacy of Giad, before eventually finally ‘dying’. This season will be covering volume 2–3, so there’s gonna be quite a bit of world building, and character progression for our main cast. Keep in mind that 86 was originally a oneshot, so it had a beginning and ending. Without spoiling, volume 2-3 pretty much bridges the gap between the final chapter of volume 1 (cour 1) and it’s epilogue.
