All three of you are wrong and thats not an opinion. I understand the point about friends but this is not about friendship . Above friends the first thing everyone is a crew. I served 4 years in the army and I was friends with my commanding officer that doesn't mean I had the right to defy an order. Luffy wasn't beating Usopp because of the arguement he was doing it because it was his job to do so as the captain.

2024-05-20 03:17:08 +0000 UTCI think the part people forget is while the Straw Hats are family and friends, it is still based on a pirate crew. If Usopp gets to walk all over Luffy's decisions as a captain then there is no structure and the whole thing falls apart in critical moments. It's not really about "pride" in the derogatory way you were mentioning, it is about Luffy making a decision and Usopp trying to yell and argue enough for Luffy to change his mind, which is not how a crew who respects their captain should act.

And of course Luffy cant just say no to the duel, he is the capitain, it is extremy important to understand how importnat it is in Luffys position that he cant just let people in his crew step over him and ''the capitains pride'' so to speak. Even if its your best friend he needs to respect the position and the decision of the capitain. This is not a game of playing pirates. This Arc really shows how important Zoro is in his role as first mate, or as the unofficial vice capitain.
