I actually think that because Blackbeard covered up what he was doing with Whitebeard, that it means that ANYONE can do it! If it was specific to his fruit it wouldn't matter if he showed it or not because he's the only one who can do it anyways, but because he did cover it up it means someone else can replicate his method and he's keeping that info secret. I bet that was the thing that enticed the other members into joining his crew, shit I'd join if it meant learning how to steal other's devil fruits.

And I personally think the key to why Blackbeard can have 2 Devil Fruits lies in what Marco said "But Teach is a little different as you guys know. His body structure is irregular compared to common people's". Since he has been in the crew the Whitebeard pirates knows something specific about Teach that no one else knows it seems. That in combination with the fruit maybe is somehow the key to all this 🤷🏿♂️
