"Charge! Kill him!" Bufen Yi was utterly shocked when the cloud energy clashed with Lü Bu’s aura. The storm-like momentum truly made Lü Bu seem like a demon god. However, as the leader of the Xianbei tribe, while shaken, Bufen Yi knew what needed to be done.
"Insects!" Lü Bu roared. His horse, Red Hare, understanding his intent, charged straight into the Xianbei army.
Before Bufen Yi could ridicule Lü Bu for charging the enemy alone, an astonishing scene unfolded. Lü Bu swung his Sky Piercer backward, and instantly, countless beams of light extended from the halberd. Wrapped in boundless inner energy, the weapon stretched to a length of nearly a hundred meters.
"Shatter them!" Lü Bu swept his Sky Piercer in a wide arc. The blade, infused with energy, sliced through the cloud energy, and in one strike, cleared a hundred-meter radius. Dozens of Xianbei warriors were cut in half by Lü Bu's powerful attack.
After a single blow, the space before Lü Bu was cleared, and his massive Sky Piercer resumed its frenzied dance, mowing down the enemies in front of him. Simultaneously, dozens of energy blades shaped like Sky Piercers flew from Lü Bu's position, accompanied by explosive sounds, crashing into the Xianbei army.
"Die, all of you!" Lü Bu roared as he spun his Sky Piercer. Countless energy arrows shot out from his body, decimating the Xianbei warriors around him. Every swing of his gigantic halberd brought devastation, killing hundreds with each strike.
"Begone!" By now, Lü Bu had already charged into the center of the Xianbei army. His enormous Sky Piercer churned the sky’s clouds, and with an attack infused with limitless inner energy, he tore apart the cloud energy.
"Kill!" After shattering the cloud energy with a single strike, Lü Bu wasted no time. He continued to swing his Sky Piercer, relentlessly cutting down the Xianbei soldiers. Though the inner energy forming his weapon began to dwindle as he fought, Lü Bu remained undeterred, pressing forward.
With a whoosh, the massive Sky Piercer disappeared, but before the bloodthirsty Xianbei soldiers could rush at him, Lü Bu gripped the halberd tightly in his left hand and began swinging it in a blur, the weapon becoming a blur of afterimages. In an instant, the air before him was slashed apart, leaving a clear path of destruction littered with severed limbs. Seizing the opportunity, Lü Bu charged through.
[The army soul can only protect the inner energy I’ve released from being quickly dissipated. It can hold off cloud energy in small areas, but for larger attacks, it’s a struggle. Still, it’s enough!] Lü Bu thought as he turned his horse around. The battlefield was now strewn with the remnants of his devastating attacks. He knew his previous charge had caused severe damage — those struck by his attack were guaranteed to be dead, not wounded. In a single charge, he had wiped out a tenth of the enemy forces.
"Huff, huff..." Bufen Yi stared in horror at the blood-soaked Lü Bu. The Xianbei army, after facing Lü Bu's onslaught, was on the brink of collapse. A single man had charged into the enemy, slaughtering three thousand soldiers — it was truly the power of a demon god!
"I said, every Hu person I see today will die!" Lü Bu declared, noticing the fear in the Xianbei soldiers' eyes. He knew that if he slaughtered a little more, they would completely collapse.
"Kill him! He’s just one man! Kill him!" Bufen Yi roared, charging at Lü Bu with his forces.
"You fools don’t understand," Lü Bu said coldly as he sat astride Red Hare, waiting for the charge of over twenty thousand Xianbei soldiers. He knew they were close to breaking, fighting out of blind obedience. But it wasn’t enough. Every Hu warrior he saw today had to die.
"Die!" Lü Bu bellowed, unleashing a vast surge of inner energy. He slammed his Sky Piercer into the ground, sending a shockwave of perfectly controlled power forward, creating a massive fissure in the earth in a sixty-degree arc. The ground shattered, and many Xianbei cavalry were thrown off their horses, including Bufen Yi, who tumbled to the ground.
At that moment, the Xianbei warriors were overwhelmed with panic. They suddenly felt as if they weren’t fighting a man, but a demon god. Every swing of Lü Bu's Sky Piercer sent a hundred men to their deaths, as the cloud energy dissolved and morale crumbled.
The ground ran red with blood. Lü Bu, despite his fatigue, continued to unleash his strength, cutting down the Xianbei soldiers. There would be no prisoners today. He wanted the northern enemies to remember that trespassing into the land he, Lü Bu, had claimed would be paid for with blood.
"Retreat! Retreat!" The Xianbei forces, shattered by Lü Bu’s lone assault, began to scatter.
In truth, Lü Bu had only killed seven to eight thousand soldiers. Even with the army soul's support, fighting against cloud energy, killing that many had left Lü Bu utterly exhausted. But some things had to be done.
When Zhang He arrived, Lü Bu was launching his second charge. Zhang He witnessed firsthand how Lü Bu single-handedly decimated an entire army. Compared to Guan Yu’s city-breaking power, Lü Bu’s ability to single-handedly rout an army was even more terrifying.
Seeing the blood-soaked battlefield, Zhang He felt both awe and respect. He knew that after this battle, as long as Lü Bu remained in Bingzhou, the Xianbei would never invade again — in fact, no Hu tribe would dare.
"Clang!" Lü Bu thrust his Sky Piercer into the ground, his gaze cold as he looked at Zhang He. After slaughtering nearly ten thousand men in a single battle, the killing intent emanating from Lü Bu had become almost tangible. Just meeting his gaze made Zhang He feel a sense of reverence.
"I greet Lord Wenhou. Upon hearing of the Xianbei’s invasion, I have led my troops from Jizhou to provide assistance," Zhang He bowed his proud head. The blood-soaked Lü Bu commanded his utmost respect, and he yearned for such power.
"Hmph. Gao Shun, Zhang Liao, prepare the army. We will launch a full assault on the main Xianbei forces!" Lü Bu said coldly, casting a glance at Zhang He.
"Lord Wenhou, may I join you in battle?" Zhang He asked humbly. If, in the past, he had harbored any disdain for Lü Bu, now he felt only reverence.
"You take your troops and prevent any Xianbei from escaping," Lü Bu replied coldly. "Cheng Lian, escort the lady back."
"Fengxian..." Diao Chan hesitated as she looked at the blood-covered Lü Bu. "I will wait for you in Jiuyuan. Be sure to return soon."
"Understood!" Cheng Lian saluted. Though he too wished to join the battle, Jiuyuan needed to be guarded as well.
"I said, no Hu warrior I see today will escape!" Lü Bu roared as he charged north. Though the previous battle had drained much of his strength and inner energy, he was still Lü Bu, the strongest warrior of his time. He would restore Bingzhou’s territory completely. Lü Bu always kept his word.
At that moment, what drove Lü Bu was not only his own will but also the will of those countless soldiers who had fought the northern invaders over the centuries. Lü Bu had not been corrupted by it, but their wills were strikingly similar. As their combined strength surged within him, it reinforced his resolve to fulfill his oath.
