Props to Joey for defending Luffy in Ash's court(I was cracking up at Ash's look on her face as the judge listening to the defense). I'm with Joey on this. You guys forget Luffy has really high emotional intelligence. Luffy doesn't care about your background or past. He just knows you are a good person. Remember he didn't know anything about nami's past and when she asked for help even though she told him to go away and "you don't know what happened to me in the last 8 years". He trusted her with his treasure(hat) and fought Arlong with no hesitation.
