Some trivia. Unless I'm mistaken, this was the first Indian film to use the Milo - Motion Controlled Camera System.
A friend of mine worked on the film, and specifically on this system, and told me all about it, and as a young theatre guy just starting out in film and TV, I was spellbound. The interest stuck, and influenced my eventual career path shifting from the content side of Film & TV to the emerging tech side.
And yet, I don't think I have actually watched this film. I can't handle Shankar.
If you guys watch "I" and actually understand what's going on, someone should give you an award!!!

It's interesting that you compared Vikram to Rajnikanth. We consider him a combination of the best of Kamal Hassan(Acting) and Rajnikanth(Style and Charishma). Yes, Vikram is a great actor and true shapeshifter. You should watch this movie.

Hey Korbin, to your question about dubbing in indian movies:
During the golden age movies in india, the literacy rate was not great. People couldn't read or write their own language. So that why no one bothered to make subtitles and every one just used to dub movies from original language to another language. The aim in general of any indian movie production is to be reached to people inspite of their literacy level. That is why sometimes there are compromises taken in dubbing also.
The literacy rate in india is much higher now compared to the past. Yet, dubbing is still prevelant because there is a wider reach. I know this is weird for you but it is very very common and least bothered thing here. Here people just care about having fun watching a movie.
But, ofcourse more educated cinephiles and youth currently watch movies with subtitles in the original language.
For example, my mom don't know hindi or english but she watches lot of Hrithik and aamir movies dubbed in telugu and she absolutely loves them. Same goes with many people throughout the country.
I always watch movies in the original language with subtitles and I have dozens of friends who never watch dubs of anything.
You will be surprised to know south indian movies dubbed into Hindi have over 100 to 500 million views on YouTube .
Hope this helps you to understand why dubbing is very common in india.

S.Shankar movie's are distinct individually, so you can start with any movie. But if you want to know how he changed the whole concept of Kollywood, you have to start from his First movie and you have to watch each one of them one by one.
You have to react to the songs as all the songs in his movies are like I movie, each song will impress you.

It’s definitely good watch for the entertainment value but just don’t expect great acting from everybody barring 2 or 3 people. That’s the case with most Shankar movies. I think for me Anniyan is a bit better than “I”. This was a well made fan trailer though.
