Yes indeed it is malhar variant. The series is mindblowing if one wants to learn about how much practice and time someone invests to learn classical. I literally cried at some scenes. And the best part is all the characters who are shown singing in this series learnt their parts and learner about classical music before beginning the shooting process so they know exactly what harkat (variation) the singer is taking and how his body language would be during taking that variation. It makes it more realistic and believable. So Rick wouldn't have the issue like that of andhaandhahun..😝😝

Also impressed at how well Naseer saheb has played the lip syncing and body language, hands and finger moment to feel authentic. Have seen this kind of a performance only in Malayalam movies with Mohan Lal

(Ji at the end of the name is for respect towards him as he is elderly). What a fabulous job the way he sang it with tabla playing 12 beats and he singing in 6 beats. ( Tabla are being played in double also called as dhrut laay in classical term). Do listen to it. I am sure you will enjoy. You reacted to the trailer of this musical we series on Amazon prime with Naseeruddin Shah Ji. Rick for you, do notice the little nuances and the modulations he does in it. I would suggest you guys to watch this series to learn about classical music and how strict it is. Myself being a classically trained musician could relate to it. Even though the strictness shown in this series is not as much nowadays everywhere. And beautiful thespian acting by all the characters. Forgive me if anything wrong. 🙏
