2021-03-02 18:46:56 +0000 UTCBut isnt that the beauty of getting to watch movies from other cultures around the world.. to understand the diversity and the positives and negatives of these cultures and lifestyles , i mean we can't just discount these amazing movies because there could be cultural references lost in translation. Maybe we can try educating them on the cultural nuances while we suggest these movies , by doing this we can also learn from each other...... just my humble view :-)

2021-03-02 17:32:04 +0000 UTCThey won't relate to nivin's kuttan character. They will b searching for fahad in the entire movie and end up getting disappointed.
Anubhav Nair
2021-03-02 14:44:14 +0000 UTCRavanan they might like.
Praveen Mohan
2021-03-02 13:00:16 +0000 UTCPlease don't put Bangalore Days and the other 3 gems in one poll. You will never get to those.
Chandana Velraj
2021-03-02 11:24:03 +0000 UTCThey always go in with expectations. I loveeee znmd but they didn't like it as much, so I don't know how they'll find this. I don't think it's dulquer's or Nivin Pauly's best performance, they're just gonna be waiting for Fahad to come on screen everytime.

2021-03-02 05:28:33 +0000 UTCBangalore days is good as long as they don't go in with expectation of an artsy Malayalam movie. It is more mainstream rom Com.. Zindagi na milegi dobara type mindset. Good performances, music, comedy, coming of age type story.

2021-03-02 05:23:51 +0000 UTCBangalore days are you guys freaking kidding me🙂

2021-03-02 04:43:55 +0000 UTCIruvar is a good movie but not sure if they would need some prep for that. So for now my vote is for Maheshante Prathikaram. I’m wondering how come Bangalore days is winning amidst this - even though it’s a good film. But as stated above - they totally fall under Maheshante Prathiaram category. All the listed movies are pretty good. But where are the voters 🤔...Still I’m joyous and open for either of the review.

2021-03-01 06:59:24 +0000 UTCBig yes for Ravanan. They were engrossed in the song Usure Poguthey. Plus it is technically brilliant. Deiva Thirumagal is unofficial remake of I am sam. Madrasapattinam can be a bit melodramatic
Ann
2021-03-01 06:58:18 +0000 UTCYeah bro what about Ravanan or Madrasapattinam? What's your thought? They will like it?
Selva Dharshan
2021-03-01 06:39:42 +0000 UTCGuys what say? Next time Tamil let us recommend Ravanan, Madrasapattinam or Deiva Thirumagal. Even we rarely remember these gems, I don't know why. But as far as I know even internationally there are no dislikes for these three beautiful works.

2021-03-01 06:38:24 +0000 UTCIruvar you guys might like, it is a great film.. filled with thespian talents and it is very artistic. Mohanlal, Tabu, aishwarya rai and Prakash Raj..!
Praveen Mohan
2021-03-01 03:54:39 +0000 UTCSubramaniapuram is very far from western culture. You need to know the local culture and know the mindset of the local people.
Praveen Mohan
2021-03-01 03:50:14 +0000 UTCIf you guys are going to watch Banalore days please keep the expectation low. It is a feel good movie. We liked it, you may not. Don't look for artistic excellence.
Praveen Mohan
2021-03-01 03:47:41 +0000 UTCThey should set their expectations before watching the movie. It's a mainstream film not an artsy one. I am happy they'll finally get introduced to more Malayalam actors. Just hope they don't focus only on Fahadh and ignore the rest
Rajashree Balakrishnan
2021-03-01 03:28:29 +0000 UTCI don't think you guys will like Bangalore Days....

2021-03-01 02:06:54 +0000 UTC@Bibek: I think there should be an entirely separate poll or segment for Bengali and other regional movies. Bcz these regional polls, more often than not, turn out to be a contest solely between movies from the South (because probably majority of the Patrons are from there).

2021-02-28 18:54:13 +0000 UTCWow.. great.. then I would love to see the review.. lucky you guys.. being a Malayalee myself, I cant revisit it.. lol

2021-02-28 17:50:41 +0000 UTCIt's on Amazon Prime in the US! (Actually I think all of the films are on Prime for us)

2021-02-28 17:20:51 +0000 UTCBecause Bengali people would spend money on ilish and chingri rather than be on patreon and vote lol,

2021-02-28 17:07:21 +0000 UTCSubramaniapuram is one of the rare treasure movie which was based on a very simple story but portrayed such complex relationships and aftermath of decisions taken in relationships beautifully. One of the greatest attributes to this movie was that it was a movie by group of friends about group of friends. M.Sasikumar's direction and approach to this movie is beyond praise and accolades. I was really hoping Rick and Korbin would get to watch the movie, not just them even others who havent watched this movie should give it a chance and watch this movie.

2021-02-28 16:55:01 +0000 UTCAgreed, it would be very difficult to understand the premise of this movie without the background. There are quite a few Indians who arent acquainted with the politics of Periyar, DMK and ADMK, who will find it difficult to relate to this movie. Even the movie dialogues and reference to those golden tamil poetries may be lost in translation. My dad was private secretary to MGR when he was chief minister of Tamil Nadu, he loved this movie, though he had some complaints ... overall he loved it.He said that Maniratnam had done justice to the whole movement to the best of his abilities and made it look like a poetry .:-)
Yasodha Narayanswamy
2021-02-28 16:46:59 +0000 UTCYeah. Without knowing background, watching Iruvar is not a good idea.

2021-02-28 16:28:02 +0000 UTCBengali films hardly make it to the final poll list 🙄🙄
Bibek Ray Chaudhuri
2021-02-28 16:23:51 +0000 UTCYes.. I feel Mahesh is more up their alley..
vidya thottappillil
2021-02-28 16:18:48 +0000 UTCTrue, a lot of the humour and nuances will be lost in translation. But it is still an enjoyable movie. They just won't get the full experience.
Rineesh Parai
2021-02-28 16:18:03 +0000 UTCI have a feeling they will not like Bangalore days that much.. They are more Maheshinte Prathikaram guys. My vote to Iruvar though!
Razor Rasu
2021-02-28 16:16:25 +0000 UTCBangalore Days is winning.. they will like it, no doubt.. but a lot of cultural jokes will be lost on them.. I have seen it with subtitles and it is entirely different.. Nonetheless, a great story..
vidya thottappillil
2021-02-28 16:14:17 +0000 UTCMaheshinte Prathikaram would be my recommendation.. But I dont know whether it is available on any platform.. I checked some platforms the other day to revisit the movie and couldn't find it..
vidya thottappillil
2021-02-28 16:12:15 +0000 UTCUndoubtedly Iruvar is the Best film! But you really need a proper background study about the Tamilnadu Politics before getting into it. So going with Bangalore Days!
