The way indian families and people behave in society looks obviously melodramatic to people in west. Drishyam is thriller but very successful among family audiences because of the tone of the movie, this could’ve been a dark movie but the reach in India would be limited. Also, it’s alright to not like a movie. Art is subjective.

I have said many times and again I am telling, don't suggest these guys South Indian films which even have a tiny hint of masala or non realistic storyline. When you suggest them South Indian movies, just suggest them movies with western format of film making or extreme reality or artistic films only! Else be ready to be disappointed...

I found the movie to be an half an hour long. But I enjoyed the movie. As for the review, you must not be giving away examples of how you liked other movies of the same language or the same actor if you do not like the movie you are reviewing. Hold your ground and leave it at there. People who enjoyed the movie will feel bad but that should not deter you from giving an honest opinion.

Also the team of the film is a little bit more old school and the editing and direction is not as clean as the new wave of Malayalam films with younger generation. But still I feel the writing is mostly good except for some parts. We were expecting some melodramatic elements in the direction as it is this team’s style and the over the top music and spoon feeding using dialogues is definitely not ideal for foreign viewers who prefer a more visual language.

Also I feel like Jeethu Joseph is a better writer than a director. I am not very in sync with his style of direction for most of the films but his writing is really good.

Appreciate your honesty. It's absolutely OK if you don't like a movie 🙏

Couldn't agree more. A sequel must endeavour more if it's a closure. I didn't see that effort at all in any department. Nearly 70% of my notes matched your reviews. Thanks to you guys, I've learnt how to critically review films🙏🤗👍.

I think it is a fitting sequel, and not as bad as you guys thought it was. However, I don't think you can expect all Malayalam cinema to be like the 10 you have watched. As you delve deeper and watch older films, you will see the style is very different. Perhaps adjust your expectations? Just letting you know.

Havent watched it yet - will over the weekend. I feel you guys are a little spoilt by the brilliant new wave of malayalam movies you have been watching. This would be the more traditional mainstream of malayalam. Even Drishyam 1 was good based on the performances and exciting story line - I don't necessarily think the direction or editing was brilliant. And it's always tough to do a sequal to a block buster, I'm assuming they would have amped up the drama and everything to live upto that. General consensus seem to be that it is a decent sequel - will know soon.

I still think the movie's fine, but I'm not angry on you guys. You guys keep it up. We all have our opinions.

I can totally understand where you guys are coming from. I always felt Jeethu Joseph’s story telling was always a melodramatic which even the first part had. I honestly think this got good reviews mainly because the expectations were too low (especially after they sold the movie to Amazon prime), and we all thought it would be something to cash on the huge success of the first part. But, there was some good effort in the movie even though stylistically it was over melodramatic.
