What I've been up to the past few days
Added 2020-04-16 09:08:57 +0000 UTCI did a total overhaul of the wikipedia page for The Sudbury Fight (which is inexplicably titled "Attack on Sudbury" even though I've never heard it referred to as anything but the Sudbury Fight). It was just a one-paragraph stub before, with quite a few inaccuracies and exaggerations, and I've fleshed it out with all the information about the battle I know and could find through further research. I even added a little infobox with all the casualties and troop info! It was a lot of fun poring through obscure primary sources for the citations, and hey, gotta kill time in quarantine somehow.

We have a Sudbury here too in Ontario, Canada. Im finding ever more frequently that there are many more of the same names in both our countries...where I grew up in Windsor, a street near me was Matthew Brady. Never knew who that was and being in Canada it may be another, but at least I know now who Matthew Brady is to me,,lol

2020-05-26 02:16:07 +0000 UTCAlso relating to the theme of Blacks being written out of history, the documentation with John Adams's opera Girls of the Golden West mentions that one-fourth of cowboys were Black. Those of us who grew up on John Wayne movies had no idea of that. I don't recall seeing a Black actor portraying a cowboy in a Hollywood movie before Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles.
