My father and his cousins thought they are going to loose and went to watch a movie, during the movie they got to know that we won, the theatre was empty everybody started running, shouting, celebrating. God must have been a memorable day.

My father was 23 in 1983 and this is one of his most vivid memories from a whole lifetime. He's recounted the story of this match a 100 times to us kids. India started out badly so they stopped watching listening to the radio (very few TVs existed in Indian back then) and went out for snacks. And someone told them the score just half an hour later, and they rushed back to hostel om their scooters to tune into FM again!
