This film is really fun. If you know the background to the story then its icing on the cake but you dont really have to either. For me, the idea of Rama, Krishna and many of the gods are embodied in NTR as he acted as them in many many films.

2021-12-20 05:21:09 +0000 UTCThis is a must watch for Classic month!!!!! This takes me to my childhood as this was one of the first NTR films I watched. Yes NTR is the original and the grand father (could be great grandfather, am not sure) of jr NTR. This are a lot of stories from the Mahabharatha and will be great if you can familiarize with them but its also very many stories and a lot of characters and can take a long time (worth it though in my opinion as each story line and the interconnections of the characters are super fun). The 'blue'-skinned man is Lord Krishna and that came about because of the inability to translate the world 'neela' in sanskrit which means black or dark and was mistakenly interpreted sometime in the 19th century, as blue as the word is used in many indian languages today. So the most popular comics that told stories of the hindu mythology, The Amar Chitra Kathas, all show Krishna, Rama, Vishnu and Shiva as blue when in reality they were just very very dark or black skinned. When translated into films, they continued to show these gods as blue as it had caught the imagination of the people and 'ahem' we are not yet ready to accept dark as beautiful or godly.
