The male artist is Gopikrishna who was a prominent dancer and choreographer during the 50s and 60s and this was probably, not certain, choreographer by him. There are several such classical gems from Bollywood from the 50s and 60s while it gradually began to fade with the advent of western music in the 70s and almost completely died out by the 80s. In contrast you will find several classical based songs in the 80s and 90s in South Indian films.
