2022-04-27 17:51:32 +0000 UTCI might be singular in this opinion but when I came out of watching The Matrix Reloaded or may be Matrix Revolution…can’t remember…I found a lot of concepts where borrowed from Hindu mythology and cosmology.

But that aside, you are right Korbin, you will see and learn a bunch watching Indian films but on the flip side, a rudimentary understanding of the epics Mahabhataratha and Ramayana will help a lot in not just understanding many Indian films better, but in even appreciating the makers at a different level. Hindu mythology (like many across other cultures) is an 'akshaya patra' or a never ending source of food (for thought, for stories, for ideas and content). Even several of the films you watched in these last three years have influences from one or other of the characters or stories from these epics. Thalapathy is one such film. Some film stories are sub conscious to the film makers but others are purposeful like Ravanan. One in hindi that I would highly recommend is Kalyug from 1981 that I really loved and is a contemporization of the Mahabharatha. Am sure many other stupid babies can recommend other films based on these epics.
