I like Munna Bhai. There must be jokes/issues lost in translation. But overall it's very enjoyable universal story, also for a foreigner, with such a nice character of Munna. Dialogues between Sunjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi were for me good scenes but I'm sure I missed a lot.

2022-05-04 23:11:00 +0000 UTCKorbin, I (foreigner) have just watched Munna Bhai. Nice, sweet&bitter, heart-warming film. I liked it very much. I guess some jokes are lost on translation. I can't say that I laughed all the way. More than certain some iconic jokes/lines are lost. But overall very enjoyable film with universal topic. I can't say the same about Andaz Apna Apna. There's the case that too much is probably lost in translation. The only thing I disliked in Munna Bhai is Boman Irani's fake baldness😉 At first Sanjay Dutt seemed too old but his performance made me to forget it very quickly. And Navaz had a very small role at the beginning.

2022-05-02 23:44:39 +0000 UTCThe comedy in Munnabhai MBBS does gets majorly lost in translation especially the banter between Munna and Circuit. The same problem exists for other comedy classics like Andaz Apna Apna though this movie also has many meta references for them to get it.

Some movies are very specific to the country, the lingo, context, theme, jokes, hostel life that is shown, the bond between kids and parents. Everything. I am not sure why everyone wants them to watch this movie and force them to review it even if they won’t understand any of this. Argh.

I can understand considering the film is a cult classic and OSR being brutally honest may not want to cause another epic meltdown, welp can’t have it both ways. My next choice taking into account this list would be Badlapur since I enjoyed it and curious what you’ll think about it. However I’m desperately hoping Rick will be included in the review 🤞

Its not possible to have subs for the whole gangster lingo or tone of Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. Having said that I still feel the movie is worth a watch and you'll definitely resonate with the message of the movie thats there at the heart of it.

If you are so concerned, it would be better if you check with Jimmy and also ask the people who are saying that it is bad to find out that among netflix, prime & youtube which one has the better subs
