With all his early innocence & energy, later goofy mannierism, tearful melodrama, over the top tones and much of great groundness. But I haven't seen anything false in his acting after KANK. I don't have expertise to judge sometimes when his styles resulted from shortcomings in craft, limitations as an actor, his personality or when from styles of acting of particular time. Having started with K3G/DDLJ/KKHH I can just say that it took me time to discover him as an actor. Asoka is a very interesting film for his acting. True thespian attempt. I'd really like to hear your opinion - what he managed to achieve with that complex character. All his post 2015 films are great performances.

Paheli is another offbeat film, costarring Rani and with a cameo by Big B. Naseeruddin Shah and his wife, Ratna Pathak, are the "chorus." And, they are puppets.
