I loved this show. Still do. It dealt with complex issues such as gender, caste, abuse, and many others with sensitivity, and empathy- yet made it in such a way that it could be understood by all. He hosted it beautifully! But that was back when we could still speak the truth and people did not boycott you when you showed them a mirror!

I remember everyone I knew watched it and I - along with my family - will wait for Sunday to watch this show. Speaking from experience - this is why the reaction seems so visceral towards certain people. The more you love/trust someone, the more ruthless you become when you feel they have betrayed you - whether true or not is irrelevant.
