Couldn't agree more with you about the first Student Of The Year. I enjoyed the heck out of that movie. It was campy fun with such great musical numbers.

You guys have mostly seen the older work of Karan Johar. His recent work and the big budget "bollywood" films he makes these days are a LOTTT of fun. And I also think that you have a huge misconception about the first "Student of the year" being a bad film. Although the second one was not the best , the first one was extremely popular and loved. Marking the debut of amazing actors like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. I truly feel that most of your audience has led you away from the types of films you seem to enjoy (Love Hostel, Mimi, Dil Dhadakne Do, Ramleela category). I would highly recommend watching it. Also watch moves like Badri Ki Dulhania, Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, JugJugg Jeeyo (released yesterday) I feel like you really should experience these movies. Just my 2 cents :-)

What a great interview! One of the best recent reaction materials. Please continue with that insightful content.
It shows again that there is more in Karan Johar as a person and a filmmaker than most his films speak. In the end he made My Name is Khan when he wanted to make an award winning film.
I have mixed feelings about his films. On one hand I still have a soft spot for his big Bollywood style. On the other hand I truly dislike his melodramatic tones. His input in opening Bollywood to international markets should be appreciated. He brought big Bollywood with K3G to new markets (including my corner of the world) and by that he won some new foreign fans but also cemented some unjust stereotypes of Indian cinema.
But I believe that he's able to bring quality in his cinema.
