Tbh my first association with the name Chennai is Chennai Express. And the film's title made me to realise that Chennai is renamed Madras. And I don't like Lungi dance song. I don't see stereotypes, I just don't like it as a song, not my styleπ And I'd probably have similar reactions to some Polish prejudiced stereotypes if used by foreigners...

2022-06-30 19:33:22 +0000 UTCThat is super interesting about the Cepelia π thanks for sharing i am glad that you are among the ones who dint take it as is.β€. which make me really happy π... i agree she did look pretty and gorgeous no second opionion about that ...but its even surprising that she being a south Indian ,a Konkani girl from Bangalore (my ex boss is her paternal side uncle) and would have known how it is when any Hindi speaking person meets me for first time they invariably ask me "have you seen Chennai Express" , talk about Lungi Dance....once they know i am from Chennai ππ my standard response" Chennai isnt anything like w the movie or even Tamil Nadu.. also girls dont dress up like Deepika may be in a wedding or a grand function π and that is not how Lungi dance actually is " and show them " Danga Maari " song or any Dhanush song.. π π but i really do understand that it is just a movie and many love it for fun. still the annoyance remains, it is just one of those things for me very difficult to let go ..π π that is why ull see me commenting on this often ..old age i guess π

Cepelia was Polish chain of stores selling folklore-stylised products from all Polish regions. Now it's a synonim of mixture of folklore typical products of little artistic value. π And I don't think that outsiders take this picture as more than comedy setting, which is very colourful, beautiful and warm. Deepika looks in her clothes beautiful and stylish. And the second Southern village in the film is almost like mythological Arcadiaπ

2022-06-28 17:00:35 +0000 UTCIt is one thing to stereotype but the stereotyping of Tamilians in itself was flawed .. the worst to me was Deepika in Half Saree ans that million bangles.. if you go to Chennai or even cities like Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy in Tamil Nadu or any other towns in semi rural areas you are not going to find girls or ladies in half saree and with so many bangles ππ . i am from Chennai and have worn half saree once in my whole life due to emotional black mail from my family and it is the case for my friends and girls in my family .. some have never even worn π π ....and then the chaotic mix up of accents and clothing and lifestyle with all the southern states...π..... i guess there wouldn't be many of us Tamilians who would find anything familiar in this movie to associate with life style no matter where they grew up . i couldn't watch this movie even for fun. I guess many non Tamilians or non south indians could not relate to the annoyance and frustration we have with this ...which is understandable..having said that it is just a movie!! so hopefully people dont take this as a reference for how Tamilians and south indians live and behave π€£π€£
