I was just about to mention this! It’s a language from Goa but it is spoken all along the coast too! So the misconception is understandable, coastal maharashtra all the way to the north western regions of Kerala.

She had 3 more siblings - Meena , Usha and Hridaynath.. All in the field of music. Thats how she got popular as didi. Didi is a respectful and endearing term at the same time. Cannot be translated as “whats up Bro? That would be more for Salman Khan.. But Didi is out of respect. Just like Ji. And only Lataji is known as Latadidi. And Asha Bhonsale is endearingly called Asha Tai. Tai again means didi or older sister in Marathi.. Dada, didi, Tai, Ustaadji, Masterji are all respectful terms when it comes to art of classical music and dance .
