It's a noir set in the backdrop of World War 2. The director S Balachander (who is also a renowned classical Veena artist) was inspired by Kurosawa's 'Roshomon' and made a 'whodunit' movie with an anti-hero.. The screenplay was written by Javar Seetharaman, who was a famous mystery writer. He also plays a prominent role in the film. It was a very unique movie since it had an anti-hero and there were no songs - which was a rarity for that day and age..
