@abhinav I’ve seen this person comment garbage like this under other regional patreon vids too🤦🏽‍♀️ …Anyways continue to stay annoyed Jen ✌️

🤣

I agree.. it has to be a collective effort and Tamil cinema is the most prolific in that regard.. and that’s a good thing

MayaR

"Amazing Bollywood movies like Laal Singh Chadda "...... lol! you are comparing a crapy version of forest Gump to an Indian Origin rooted story, Please do expand you filmography knowledge by watching good movies irrespective of the language and try to appreciate the story telling rather than patronizing to a single language movies...unless you do you will keep on recommending SOTY and aashiqui 2.

Abhinav Reddy

Agreed. That scene is powerful and it’s not easy for people unaware of the caste history to appreciate its significance. It’s also not the only film/book/other media that is doing that today too.

Kiru

Wow!! Like seriously wow

MayaR

All thses regional language films are unnecessarily hyped and praised, and people choose to hate on even amazing bolywood movies like Laal Singh Chadda etc... It's so annoying. Happy you guys see right through it

With respect to the subaltern representation of adivasis, that scene where Rishabh walks into the landlords house and sits at the head of the table and eats two bites of the food all the while staring the landlord in the face.. that was a powerful taking back of the power and refusing to play by his rules.. I loved that scene.. also the story is true to the reality of Adivasis living in that village.. sadly it’s a power dynamic that exists even as I type this.. the movie doesn’t glorify casteist ideology…

The mysticism, the cinematography, Varaha Roopam (the musical number and am a Thaikuddam Bridge fan too!), the budget and what they did with it - are all reasons that this film can never be considered overrated. And this is coming from having watched some spectacular tamil and malayalam films this year. This was the first kannada film I watched in the theater ever and I agree with many others here that the middle of the film was pretty meh and also understand the argument on depicting adivasis in the subaltern hindu premise. But in spite of all that this is a magnificent effort. I was so happy to hear and see Varaha Roopam back in the end and those gestures and the circle (of trust) that the protagonist makes with the others are very similar to the Yaksha Gana and more classical Kathakali in Kerala. In the theater, the song and its visuals felt like something pulling and squeezing out every emotion out of one. Thank you Rick and Korbin for watching this film as it is the most culturally significant Indian film of 2022 for all the reasons stated before.

Hey Korbin! Could you consider doing a watch along of “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na?” It is one of the most underrated movie of Shah Rukh Khan. This one nothing like any of the SRK’s movie you have watched in terms of the stylization of the film. I bet you guys will definitely feel like different about this movie unlike any other SRK’s movie. It is his own personal favorite film. He even went on to buy all the movie/songs rights later on in his career. This one is such a raw, beautiful, and a grounded movie. I have suggested it several times. Please at least respond to this comment regardless of whether or not are y’all going to consider this movie.
