Gulmohar MOVIE REVIEW!! | Sucharita Tyagi | Manoj Bajpayee, Sharmila Tagore

Comments

Sure, but it's still possible to be disappointed by something even if you know what you're getting into and what to expect. For example, I knew what to expect when I went to watch Pathaan. A fun action movie to not take seriously. I was disappointed by the movie however because what I did not expect was poorly executed action scenes, terrible VFX, cringe acting and god awful screenplay. Just because I wanted a fun action movie, doesn't mean I would forgive all those other things. It actually took away from the fun. There are films that do it well. Just take Force 2 for example. A fun action film with incredibly well executed stunts, and gripping screenplay and strong performances. Another example is Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. These films are of a specific genre that don't slack in other aspects of filmmaking that include things like score, cinematography, screenplay, execution etc. If I'm watching a "masala" movie, I still expect strong filmmaking/screenplay/acting etc for that genre to be a positive experience. So there could be aspects of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai that overall ended in a positive experience, where OSO and Rab Ne could have lacked. I don't think it's inconsistent or crazy for Rick to not like those films. What's crazy is people being upset that he didn't like the films they love.

Yeah I see your point Stanley. But at the same time I feel like they know what they should expect going into the movie. The whole point is that they're meant to be entertaining "masala" films. Which is why Rick not liking films like Amar Akhbar Anthony irritates me a little. Not because he isn't allowed to dislike them, but because he gives the weirdest reasonings for it lol.

Well I mean we forgive Superman and Clark Kent. Why call this dumb? Also, it's just meant to be cute. Not some genre-defining film. It's the old saying that in Indian love stories you don't see logic you see magic. That's true. Also btw, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is far dumber than Rab Ne. But he like that.

To be fair, it wouldn't be all that surprising if Rick hated Rab Ne and OSO. They're dumb movies lol I love them but I can see how someone wouldn't. It would be more surprising if he hated something like Haider or Love Hostel or Ugly etc.

Abhishek, I learned this through multiple comments that Korbin made on some of the past videos on here. People were asking Rick's review of Rab Ne and Korbin said a couple times that Rick hated it. And that if we don't see an OSO review, that means he hated that too.

saism1

Where did you learn Rick hated Rab ne? Curious as I might have missed the video in which he mentions it. Want to know what his reasons are this time

Abhishek Saikia

Maybe we should all do like a deep dive artistic analysis of this. 😂 Maybe Rick has a very antiquated and conventional understanding of film. It's just not open to seeing that film can be like this too. If you had asked me 3 years ago that Korbin would be the more adaptive of the two, I'd have laughed you off.

Yuvraj Haldankar

Sometimes i feel Rick is not liking this job anymore ..

Reva

Still don't understand why he hated Rab Ne. Him and his stupid reasons. I'd rather not hear them.

Yuvraj Haldankar

Because he watched Rab Ne Banadi Jodi and decided not to give a review since he hated it. He also recently was watching Om Shanti Om and we haven't gotten a review, so now I'm assuming he hated it too.

saism1

Why'd you assume so? I mean I don't know if he liked it, but why think if it like that?

Yuvraj Haldankar

Did Rick hate Om Shanti Om too?

saism1
