vijay did not want to be dubbed by another person. He had worked in middle east countries before he joined film and he had knowledge of Hindi but not fluent. that is why he spoke less in hindi...

He’s speaks Hindi with a heavy Tamil accent (which I’m so happy is not shown in a stereotypical exaggerated way, it’s natural). So, English comes more easily for him than Hindi which is the case for most South Indian living in the North. He is also shown speaking in Tamil and in Telugu with his wife’s family. Raj and DK have always displayed the multiculturalism of India. They show hits of multiple languages…so far I have heard hits of Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu etc. being woven in seamlessly.

I believe Vijay has more lines in English probably because he’s been portrayed as a South Indian and is thus shown to be more comfortable in English than Hindi. That’s just my understanding though; I could be totally wrong.
