The problem with Bombay Velvet was the screenplay. It was just all over the place. And the flim was boring which is something I have never said of an Anurag film. Also he failed to get near any of the great Mumbai underworld films by Ramu made at the turn of the century like Satya and Company. Could not care less about its box office but the film itself was just average.

Kidnapping women for 'entertainment', gangsters meeting PM and putting on swag, murdering MPs in parliament, sudden random shouts from random characters - KALASHNIKOVVVVVV, MONSTERRRRR and so on. In the eighties there was a genre of films best described as Dharmendra's 'kuttey-kaminey' (dog-bastard) films. In these Dharmendra would invariably shout once -'kuttey, kaminey, main tera khoon pee jaoonga' (i will drink your blood). KGF type movies is the current crop analogous to such films.
