It feels like this song is summarizing the relationship between Vikram and Aishwarya. The lyrics (and I don't think you'll get much in the movie, Mani doesn't do things that way) convey love, but also loss, and separation. The guy you see is Vikram's younger age (seen briefly in PS1).

Some context and background of each will be very helpful to appreciate the beauty and nuance of the lyrics. This one evokes memories of Bharathi and his poems, but the music changes it to a melancholy mood in places. "Ilaiyoor Soodar" is a 1st-5th CE poem from Puranaanuru, a lament whose context is a spoiler. "Azhai Kanna" is a 7-8th CE poem by Andal (a devotee of Vishnu) who Aishwarya is compared to at times. "Aga Naga" uses a musical mode from the 2-5th CE, which pre-dates the use of carnatic music in tamil.
