2023-03-30 18:21:04 +0000 UTCI have been living in California for 12+ years now. People are truly welcoming ! I haven’t had any racial encounter. However I did have one discussion white a Maryland white lady whose daughter was engaged with an Indian guy and he broke the engagement because his mom wanted him to marry an Indian girl. So this lady had developed a blanket opinion about Indians in general that we betray. Which was hard to listen to. And other thing she found really funny was we worship cows and thus not eat beef.. I over the time learnt how to explain that. Its like how Dogs are to Americans, cows have a higher place than that in India. But I would also blame some part of how movies show Indian guys in A foreign country dating a white girl and they are casted for one nught stand kind of roles.. like if the guy is casanova, its usually white girls he is sleeping around with..and how dismissive the guy is of her existence.. latest similar showcasing I saw it in When Harry Met Sejal with SRK.. Imtiaz Ali movies usually show white women as dismissive which is wrong .
