Weddings are not for the couple I feel in most cases in India, they are for the parents and the society. When me and my wife decided to tell our parents that we are dating and want to get married, they sort of took over and do the usual arrange marriage part of things. Deciding dates, venues, catering, guests, everything is taken care by the parents or family. You just show up and get ready for the ride. So the love marriages are also not very similar to the west in that regard.
