Indian history of basketball
Introduced by T Ducan Patton, a missionary from the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) in the 1890s, the game took its time to spread in India. And it was not until 1934 that the first national basketball championships were held in New Delhi.

Many schools here have basket ball as one of the sports activities from a very young age. It might be that the only movies/songs you have watched might have had people/actors who didn't know how to play (not all sports are played well by everyone) and quite rightly pointed out that they might have not made the effort to learn too but many Indians do play basketball and play quite well too. It definitely is not as popular as cricket (nothing in India is), or football, or kabaddi or hockey or raquet sports but is still one of the many that is played here.

If there’s a Vijay movie that would be great for a watch-along, it would be this one😊
