I've lived across multiple countries and cities. I've been charmed by quite a lot of communities - but the ones that stand out by far are the Irish and the Tamils. Just bloody original and fiercely rooted to their culture. And oh so loving, if you can ignore the occasional fieriness.

Chennai is my favourite city after London. I hated it at first and then I fell so madly and deeply in love with the city - I was never 'included' in Tamil conversations, but I felt the warmth, the absolute generosity and passion of the people. It is authentic and deeply rooted to its own culture. It is deeply artistic - but you need to move in the right circles.

Please never come back to our country

You seem to already have made up your mind so no point in stating that it isnt true and give you facts and statistics but concluding it is the worst city is what makes it a bit sad... i lived in Bangalore for 2 years and had the worst experience of my life and it was the same for my sister who was attacked waiting for a taxi near her bank and had stopped going out for almost a year after that... many locals were rude to us ( it was during Cauveri River SC judgement) and ofcourse the cost of living was very high but there is no way am going to conclude Bangalore is the worst city it was my personal experience that is all to it as i know many Tamilians who have great experiences in Bangalore and still live there but i guess to each their own...!!

Most of the locals don’t speak hindi? Well, you entered a state that only speaks TAMIL and English … but sure still expect that locals in Tamil Nadu will magically speak Hindi just for you despite the fact that YOU came to their state 🤦🏽‍♀️ god

This is your personal experience, and while that's fair based on your time, it's hardly an average experience. I've lived in Chennai for more than 30 years, and never had a problem using tap water, except for drinking, and all you need is a filter. It is humid and hot, but that's hardly a surprise or unique about Chennai. I've had worse days in LA at times and I don't understand that point. Chennai is also cheaper than the other main metros of India. If you were in Chennai as part of college or working, I'm guessing your choice of neighborhoods and your ability to talk in Tamil might have been your hindrances. You can hardly expect people to be jovial if you don't try to speak to them in their language even after living there for 4 years.

Most people don't speak English ? Are you serious ? You are talking about a state with the second highest literacy rate and second highest GDP in the country. Living without an AC - its the same as saying go up north but live without a blanket. Chennai was voted as the safest city for Women in India. You are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but let it be based on some facts, at least some.

I lived in Chennai for four years and whatever anyone says, it's the worst city I have ever lived. The water was dirty, we had to use drinking water cans for bath and toilet purposes. It's always humid and irritating no matter how many times you bath in a day. The local people not so jovial. The weather is the deal breaker. It's the worst. And most of the locals don't speak Hindi or English. The train transport system or the MMTS, are maintained so poorly, the most active MMTS station is maintained like an abandoned one. The beaches are poorly maintained and not very clean and not even safe after sunset. On top of it all, the cost of living is very high. The real estate is too expensive. You cannot live without an AC. When I lived there, there was no international or other popular branded alcohol. You ONLY have access to government run local and cheap alcohol chain called TASMAC which was bad. And if you want a taste of international brand alcohol, you can only get in 3 or more star hotels and each point is so damn expensive. So, i am never setting foot in that city again whatever anyone says and how many cool videos they make about this city
