JAILER MOVIE REVIEW!!! | Superstar Rajinikanth | Mohanlal | Nelson

JAILER MOVIE REVIEW!!! | Superstar Rajinikanth | Mohanlal | Nelson

Comments

I think they will really like Muthu, Annamalai, Arunachalam, Sivaji.. Might not like Basha, Padayappa (recently rewatched these and I have been skeptical since).

AshQueen

Baasha and Padayappa would be good.. others may not sit with them...

Rajesh R

do a watch along of doctor movie which is directed by Nelson. Last 30min are dragging but rest movie is dark comedy..

Rajesh R

They have watched Golmaal which is the original from which Thillu mullu was remade. But I agree it would still be worth watching since it's a different dimension of Rajini that they haven't seen yet.

Deepak

You should also check out the director's first 2 movies - Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor. Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley (the guy that's sent out of the bathroom) are a staple in the director's movie and they are hilarious in both movies.

Deepak

That's great Maya! šŸ˜€ Good luck with the move, hope you settle in well! šŸ‘ Be prepared for the crazy traffic though šŸ˜‰

Jyothsna

Huh ? It is very rhetorical & presumptuous of you to think that I don't have an opinion of my own and have to lean on somebody else to tell me how I should feel about a movie. Can we agree to disagree ? Absolutely no need for you to pass judgement on how I should feel about a certain film. I don’t do the same to you.

Rohan Venkatesh

100% with you Divya, I havent heard or felt anything mixed or negative from his hardcore diehard fans. I loved every moment of the movie from the beginning till the end. I just was screaming and whistling and crying all at the same time whenever Thalaivar was rocking with his style and performance with many others in the theater ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø. This is a complete Rajinikanth movie directed by our lovely and amazing Nelson( many were saying Jeyuchutta Nelsaa šŸ˜…) thats all to it.

Thendral Isai

No sharath fortunately it was an amazing experience here in Raleigh also the theater was a massive one and even my friends parents were saying felt like back in Sathyam theater in Chennai. Love your suggestion for just Rajinikanth movies I am all in šŸ˜

Divya

It is just a shame you cudnt sit thru the movie, haven't heard from anyself proclaimed huge thalaivar fan that they cudnt sit through the movie and found it unbearable. If some one is is out and out Thalaivar fan just for his smile and his walk and his laugh they have gone crazy for the movie, everytime hukkum song played it was goose bumps and celebrations moment. It just isnt about the taste its about the crazy love you have for the man , you could see from someone like Karthik Subbaraj"s joy .But to each other own, i feel one could be a fan but not a hardcore crazy fan like me and many others who grew up with superstars movie adoring him, if you cudnt sit thru this movie and disliked it so much like BR's view.

Divya

agree..

Rajesh R

Padayappa has music by AR Rahman and also has Ramya Krishnan who you saw in this movie and recognised from Bahubali.

Jyothsna

I would suggest to do a watchalong to Padayappa, Baasha, Muthu first before you get to his more recent movies as most of the references that you will see in Rajinikanth's later works are from these 3 monster hits which propelled him to super duper stardom.

Jyothsna

So glad you guys had your first Superstar Rajinikanth experience in a theatre and that you loved it! šŸ˜€šŸ˜€ My theatre in Bangalore went ballistic for every single slow-mo shot of Rajinikanth with Anirudh's BGM...it was such an awesome experience āœØšŸ”„šŸŒŸ The pre-climax sequence with the Thalaivar song for Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal and Rajinikanth one after the other was the highlight of the movie šŸ’„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ’„ The only thing I personally didn't like was the whole Tamannaah/Sunil sequence.

Jyothsna

Ok then lolšŸ™ƒ

Api

:-) we all understand black comedy. The movie was a tonal mess. I was just looking at Baradwaj Rangan's review and I think he summarized it very well for a lot of us who expected better.

Rohan Venkatesh

I’d understand that for a film like Annathe but this movie was undoubtedly one of his best in recent years . Do you like black comedy ? Maybe it’s the genre of film that’s not your preference

Api

So many Rajni suggestions here which are great. Some for the anatagonist Vinayakan- btw you have seen him in the LJP movie Ee.ma.Yau (son struggling for his father’s funeral)- Vinayakan is the local politician who is the son’s friend. Watch the Malayalam movie ā€œKammattipadamā€ for Vinayakan’s award winning performance along with Dulquer Salman. Very underrated film. He has also done a big part in FaFa’s Trance. The guy frequently ends up with controversy too for his bad mouthing of famous people 😃

Abhi

Huh? Being a Rajnikanth fan doesn't mean you need to be blind and untruthful. To each his own, so let's not pass judgements here

Rohan Venkatesh

Sivaji, Bassha and Muthu for sure.

GBV

You guys accurately summarized the reaction of a new initiate of the Rajinikanth fandom…it definitely has a lot of mass and goosebump moments for fans who have watched him for years… Ani is just coming up with fantastic piece of music movie after movie… i hope it never stops… He is a pillar without whom the movie will not be what it is… that being said… i have issues with the movie too… similar to Beast… Nelson has once again not written a smart villain in his movie… i was so happy with how Vinayakan started in the first half… he was shaping up to be a unique and mass villain… but then his character in the second half had some real unprofessional choices despite he calling himself a professional… and i agree with Korbin… the son’s change of character was rather forced… he din contribute to anything Vinayakan was part of in the first half… the reveal was more of an ā€œalright i get itā€ rather than ā€œokay things got interestingā€ā€¦ the only good thing abt it was the shift in body language after Rajini finds out abt him… and the climax is abrupt… we needed another minute atleast with Rajini walking away before just closing with the credits… i may have gone in expecting more but i am a Thalaivar fan… i always expect more… and more so after the last few outings he has had… this is definitely better than those last few movies but this could have been better! Note: I had a bad experience at the theater… the main music track and background music were muffled… more like they sounded far away and the other sounds and effects took the main speakers creating a weird effect when you hear it (you need to experience it to clearly understand what i am talking about)…this kinda took away a lot of the magic the scene was creating… please tell me if others have experienced this as well… P.S. Korbin…. we need a Rajinikanth watchalong next! Please have a poll for Rajinikanth movies watchalong (just his movies only) I vote for Muthu or Padayappa!

Sharath Shaji

That’s where you’ll find the hardcore thalapathy vijay fans screaming šŸ˜‚

Api

Oh it definitely will šŸ˜‚

Api

First day first show but as long as that show has a full house lol

OUR STUPID REACTIONS

I meant not in line with his work in the last 30 years. For example, the sequence after his famous Kya Re line and the interrogation one would have all turned out very differently if it was. Same for the opening scene and the ending too. Kinda anticlimatic. But I felt it was really good as a film.

Sibi Naayagam

It's definitely not up to the standards of his older movies.

AshQueen

Also, please watch LEO early like a premiere show or on day 1 to experience the craziness 🄳

AshQueen

It’s mostly been positive not mixed

Api

It definitely has gotten mixed reviews content wise.

AshQueen

SIVAJI is the most Rajinikanth movie ever made and would be a super fun watchalong plus it's a Director Shankar movie! PETTA for sure (Ani's best background score imo). KALA is a really good movie but not a 'Rajinikanth' movie. But that said the following ones are must watch to understand Rajinikanth the phenomenon: 1. Padayappa 2. Baasha 3. Annamalai 4. Muthu Perhaps once this is covered you could go to the 80s which is the core of his filmography. One unmissable film is Thillu Mullu, an extraordinary comedy film by legendary Dir Balachander. Whatever you do, please AVOID Darbar and Annaththe lol

Sibi Naayagam

Agreed! here in Raleigh the theater went ballistic for that scene 🄳 whistle parandhadhu !

Divya

It’s funny you guys mentioned the kids being in the theatre thing cuz at least in Canada where I live there’s not a rating system imposed for non English films so I watched Tamil films in theatres as a kid that were definitely not for my age šŸ˜‚

Api

He hasn't done the cigarette flip in like 30 years or so. It was such a cathartic experience for me to see it the first time in theatres!

Sibi Naayagam

I'll be honest, I'm a big Rajnikanth fan but I found it very difficult to sit through this movie.

Rohan Venkatesh

Watchalong suggestions of Rajni movies šŸ’Æ 1. Muthu 2. Baasha 3. Annamalai 4. Arunachalam 5. Sivaji 6. Enthiran

AshQueen

I’m so happy you guys loved the film 🄰 now you understand why Rajinikanth’s style is unmatched šŸ˜

Api

Awesome šŸ˜Ž Knew you both will enjoy this one!! On the next Superstar movie to watch, I’d hugely recommend ā€˜Padayappa’. It’s his most iconic mass film and has an Easter egg of a role played by someone who acted with him in Jailer! That film, had music by our all time dost AR Rahman and the music/OST is iconic too. I hope it gets huge votes from others, fingers crossed šŸ˜„ Ps: Padayappa was part of your recent Tamil movie poll and lost out to Master

SR Kumar

Its just me being greedy and suggesting loads of movies now hoping you ll watch few šŸ˜‚

Divya

Love love love your review Korbin! šŸ’•šŸ’„ once again you have made me very happy ā¤ļøā¤ļø ,I have already watched the movie twice now 🄰🄰🄰🄰! Thalaivar superstar forever šŸ’„ am so very happy that you guys enjoyed the movie so much !also Nelson is a big breaking bad fan hence that sulphuric acid container šŸ˜† please watch Nelson's Kolamavu Kokila and Doctor! And superstars watch along you can start with Pettai, Kabaali,Padayappa, Baasha,Muthu ,Kaala in any sequence will do 😁
