Idk There was a time when the malayalam movie reviews were neck and neck with Tamil reviews but now Tamil is ahead by ten.. it will keep increasing its lead because the tide is turning that way.. sigh..

More polls skewed in that direction.. Slowly and steadily we will be lesser and lesser in numbers..our voices even if heard, there will be louder voices that would make "sense" OSR will be completely different than what it was ..sigh

2023-11-11 17:45:21 +0000 UTCI would suggest taking a risk and watching one watch along more or just one from the industries you haven’t done one before.. coz I thought you had done more than just the two for Malayalam.. that’s hardly the sample size you can make a decision about viewership potential and revenue growth.. the other industries there could be interest? It’s like you don’t get views coz people know you aren’t interested in their films? I am now beginning to understand that’s it no longer about patreons but potential pipeline of patreons.. so it’s just a thought.. 🤷🏽♀️

If so, I'm rooting for "Chithram" (Photograph) a Mohanlal comedy watch along. It might even qualify based on your criteria. It is available freely on YT so not sure you've to cut it up either but maybe you do. --It qualifies as an out and out entertainer. The longest running Malayalam movie of all time. Plus, it is the only Malayalam classic comedy I can think of that a foreigner could watch. --Jimmy Cage's Mohanlal movie reviews have 15K views on average - not sure if that's enough to make it worthwhile for you. Maybe blockbusters from other languages (non-Hindi/Tamil) are a key to solving this dilemma?

2023-11-11 03:27:30 +0000 UTCI totally agree.. in a business standpoint everything you say makes sense.. trust me I get.. when I said what I said I meant from a relationship standpoint.. there are many of us who joined patreon before the watch along trend.. the reason I joined and stayed wasn’t for the watch alongs.. it was for the appreciation of movies that get ignored in the western imagination.. so when other members of the community ( not Korbin) continue to make statements that diminish our value ( yes we have value in here, in a business standpoint we are also paying toward the bottom line) and insist of drawing boundaries between themselves and others ( I am speaking generally) those of us on the outside feel a bit lost in the crowd.. it’s only watch alongs so it’s not that deep I get it.. anyways.. I feel like I should either join the Hindi SRK KJo bandwagon coz the Tamil folks are clearly not interested in my opinions about their films.. sigh this became a therapy session all of a sudden.. 😬🥹

But its kind of unfair to Patrons who have been with you for years now for reasons you guys watched Indian content for.. (good cinema does not mean box office success and vice versa) and I see its a catch 22 if you look at it monetarily.. As long as you keep a balance, it would be great ! 😊

2023-11-10 14:14:42 +0000 UTCI totally understand the need for a return on investment with the editor… and that investment is only justified when YT get the views necessary.. it’s an equally no win situation for those of us who enjoy your watch alongs on patreon of movies that aren’t Tamil and Hindi ( read SRK and KJo movies) content.. idk how well your Malayalam watch alongs have faired in the past but I fear that might not be a regular thing either anymore.. the only solution I can see is a variation of what Reva suggested have the uncut unedited version of the malayalam ( insert language here) movies for patreons and leave it at that.. you aren’t counting us as your revenue generators anyway.. so there is no need for YT versions so this might be a solution unless of course you don’t want to spend the time watching a movie that isn’t going to generate any revenue.. which is perfectly acceptable reason.. the recent bump in the membership numbers speak for themselves.. either way let us know what you decide.. I would much rather know that there won’t be anymore malayalam watch alongs instead of hoping for one.. clear expectations are always best in this kind of situation..

While I understand what you are saying Korbin but the money being paid to editor comes from Patreon subscriptions that needs to be posted on YT that in turn provides ROI per watchalong ?? Am I understanding this right?

What's going to be popular on youtube is most likely not something most of your audience on patreon would recommend as you started out your channel catering to the majority, but ended up watching very niche stuff which people hardly watch these days, whether it be older hindi movies, or smaller regional films (not the KGFs of the world). So for the movies you would like to edit for youtube I would suggest movies like this. Apart from that, you could always post watchalongs on patreon and not pay to edit all of them for youtube. maybe store it for later if you like... Just some suggestions 😊

2023-11-09 23:02:59 +0000 UTCi mean...that's the unique thing about you guys from other reaction channels is that even if you're doing watchalong for a artsy slow film you're reaction will entertaining in the way you appreciate it for example you wouldn't find a reaction to a film like great Indian kitchen on YouTube but if u did it i truly believe a lot of ppl would watch it but yah paying for the editor thing makes it difficult to take a risk i understand
