Actually if u felt that he would have moved on if he would have not won the match is a perfect description of how dhoni is as an individual. He is very balanced in tensed situations and does not show emotions. For us we have a lot of context and references which you might never pick up from this movie so on that end the makers did really well. I would personally never recommend this movie to someone who doesn’t know dhoni or indian cricket well.

Usually star players are prodigies as kids and work hard to excel through under15,17,19, academy and then Ranji/state and finally nationals and internationals. MS failing to make u19 led to the deodhar trophy miss and then railways etc before he luckily broke through in Ranji and internationals.. no one from Bihar or Railways had played for India before or since! Shows how rare his achievement and path was. Also given the poor facilities and politics in places like Bihar Vs a modern, streamlined infrastructure of Mumbai, Karnataka or Delhi

2024-05-30 11:26:09 +0000 UTCan iconic film for cricket and Dhoni fans... so many amazing memories from 2007 and 2011 :) decent movie overall. hamstrung by being a struggle -> success biopic - hence dragged a bit long in bits. The young age VFX was poor but the stadium and film shots were merged very well for that time... amazing role by Sushant... and crazy to see how Disha was beloved for the role (as a homely girl-next-door) and Kiara was considered average and now Kiara is a powerhouse success (does critical and girl-next-door roles + glam ones all very well) and Disha is struggling to break the glam stereotype ..

Says so much that he got a biopic about his first 7 years in a 20 yr career in a cricket loving country that hasn't made one for Sachin yet. Even 83 came after this. To truly capture the phenomenon of MSD, it has to be from the people's perpective.

Thats why Dhoni is unique and much much more than what this movie could show..

For me it there were two problems. It was too long and I felt that the love stories with Disha Patani and Kiara Advani were similar. Maybe you went in with too high expectations. You expected a film similar to Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

As audience , we could see Dhoni play live till today.. so yeah .. we didnt need anyone else to copy it to the T.. Disagree with Korbin- '83 is a much better movie because- it was first world cup win, no footage of those matches are available.. its only through stories.. and It did bring in the tension of a sports movie even though we knew the outcome. It brought the euphoria the country must have felt when we did win the world cup. And it wasnt a biopic.. it was what happened that we who only heard of it and never got to see.. so yeah cannot be compared.. movie wise I would say it does heighten emotions but that movie needed it.. Dhoni didn't need a biopic .. this was a movie that wasnt needed.
