Some South Indian films I have to give credit, they're at least stylistically different and unique. Despite my many, many issues with RRR, the movie has its own style with so much care gone into the shots. But one thing I'll always struggle with is ADR (dubbing). I'm never gonna one day just accept that that is how it's done. It'll always be a negative for me. Which is why I haven't seen films like Sye Raa or PS-1 /2 because I can't get past the ADR. But at least stylistically they look a little different.

I hope the screenplay is good and true to historical facts. I have no doubts Vicky will do justice to his role of given a good script! I just hope the action is not too over the top!

Woah ! So interested.. hope telling is true to the story..
If you grew up in Maharashtra until the 2000s atleast, Shivaji is part of your life through social studies, and if you are a Marathi, you hear about Shivaji and the Marathas and their stories all through your growing up years..
Shivaji is embedded part of Marathi culture
Its amazing at least through movies now its reaching the masses ...
This looks great!

Absolutely. Akshaye Khanna was the only good thing in the trailer.

Every time I see a new teaser/trailer pop up for an Indian historical film I think to myself, "God, I hope it looks cool. I hope it looks epic!" This teaser looks neither. It's like Bollywood is creatively bankrupt. All these historical films look stylistically the same. You could take a bunch of clips from different Hindi historical films and stitch them together and they'd look like they're from the same film (yes, even Bhansali. All his shit looks and is stylistically the same). The only thing that slightly piqued my interest was Akshaye Khanna but I won't be rushing to the cinemas for this. Looking forward to Berlin.

Uri was a war, action flick. Arguably the best India has made. Only idiots can enjoy same from USA but hate good stuff when we make it ourselves

Omg you just stole all my thoughts. I love Vicky but I hate Uri as a film and I hate the fact that an actor of his calibre has to make such choices to climb up the ladder. Just like Uri, I hated this trailer and the impact it tried to make and the audience it tried to target with that over the top music (reminded me of the How’s the josh insanity from Uri) and dialogs reeking of jingoism & right wing nationalism. Had high expectations not knowing what the film was about but this is definitely not what interests me anymore, no matter how good Vicky performs (which he most certainly will being the actor he is).

I have not seen Chaava so I cant say if this is some cheap propaganda or a genuine great biopic. I was referring to both Uri and Tanaji as propaganda trash backrolled by India's current government. Biopics can very well be designed to be propaganda and there are countless examples of that, including Tanaji which didnt even stick to historical accuracy and changed Subedar Tanaji's actual story(and end) only to come across as some cheap popcorn movie. This feels closer to Tanaji than something that would be genuinely great. Tanaji was designed to be an anti-Muslim firm first, then to promote BJP's hindu-fascist nationalism, and then whatever was left was the "biopic" of a great man, that too with changed end. It was an insult to Maharashtra and I am genuinely embarrassed by it.

Looks painful and straight out of those hyper nationalistic, jingoistic, stereotypical nonsense. Action choreo looks bad with too much emphasis on slow motion. It looks as if Tanaji had an illegitimate child with Kesari. Vicky Kaushal either does completely leftist movies like Sardaar uddham or right wing propaganda like Uri, and maybe this(?). which begs the question if actors like him are just a puppet with no individual voice and ideology of their own or can he separate art and artist(ofcourse money and proximity to fascists and power also helps so that is a big reason to do these movies ofcourse). It's as if Ryan Gosling did Barbie one year and then goes ahead and does some Big budget Republican favorite movie about Christian nationalism that demonizes others.

I think the subtitle in the end showed Shivaji instead of Sambhaji. Sambhaji was Shivaji’s son. Chhatrapati means a king.
