That's amazing lol

Rgv mentioned in one of his interviews "romancing the stone" is an inspiration for this movie 😀.

Swati

They are just one year apart. 1989 and 1990. They are the same movies, RGV just copy-pasted the same action sequences and changed the dialogue and song scenes with the Hindi version and actors (except Nagarjuna, the lead actress, and the little girl). I personally always gravitate to the Hindi one because the ending RGV changed for it, was the one that left a harder impact. Also, it's just easy for me, as they are so similar otherwise, I don't have to focus on subtitles. They are both iconic, the Hindi one was iconic in the Hindi industry too as it is remembered for being, for the time, one of the most grounded action films in India.

I personally would disagree. The hindi one is a bit different and maybe better, but telugu is still the original and is iconic its own right for even stuff like the songs. I would agree to watch the hindi one if the telugu one was way more outdated or just wasnt good, but neither are the case.

I knew you'd like this one because of the pacing. Even if you hated everything you'd still like it if that makes any sense at all. Couldn't wait to see what you'd think. This movie was known bc of the shooting on location... that was very innovative for the time. The director did it like a love letter to sridevi which is why the songs are all so different from each other, he just wanted to basically do everything he could lol. She even sang in the movie. It is such a great caper heist type story. I also looove the ending, it's one of my favorite movie endings of all time bc of how sweet it is lol just the look on their faces. I wish more movies were like this one. P.s. you got a great copy of it for the subtitles.

Thank you OSR for this lovely reaction

Ram gopalVarma is an ardent fan of Sridevi, and this movie was his dream come True. The lullaby song remained eternal and served as the perfect telugu lullaby for the veteran actress post her demise. She won Filmfare award for best actor in telugu for this movie. Her dialog in distress - Devuda Devuda... Meaning God God.. Became so popular that Everyone started doing the same. We miss her and her powerful screen presence.

Sumeith

Same here... But i m glad they enjoyed the movie.

Sumeith

Sarkar and Company will complete your RGV must watch(es).

Nitin Jain

Okay OSR, you got me. Even though it's the end of the month, i had to rejoin Patreon just for this watch along. Thanks to whoever convinced them to finally watch it. This was a good one.

Samira A

Watch Shiva and Company both. It’s been long due. Both are bonafide classics .

jayesh poojary

You have no idea what this performance of sridevis meant to my whole high school group.

Crazydiamond

Guys. If you ever watch RGV's debut, Shiva. I'd recommend the Hindi one because he made a change to the ending that I know you guys will love. Plus the video quality is higher on that version. But mainly for the ending that he changed in the Hindi version that wasn't in the Telugu one. I think a lot of people would agree with me.

NO WAY YOU ACTUALLY DID THIS I'VE BEEN HOPING FOR LIKE A YEAR. 😁😁😁😁😁😁🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Venkatesh acted in many good original Telugu movies as well as lots of remakes. Drishyam 1 and 2, Asuran remake, Guru - Irudhi Suttru (Tamil) Remake etc.. He is one of subtle actors in Telugu who has huge fan base. I recommend Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle chettu movie, a slow burner family entertainer with Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh in leading roles.

Aakaanksha Srivatsav

Ah thought it’s the same family.

Kiru

Daggubati family does not own the Ramoji film city. Its owned by Ramoji Rao who is the founder of Eenadu group and ETV

Aakaanksha Srivatsav

And for context, Venkatesh is Rana Dagubatti's uncle. You know him as antagonist in Baahubali and have met him as producer for Kalki. Their family are big producers and own the Ramoji Rao film city studios in Hyderabad.

BTW, Kshana Kshanam means Every Moment.

I knew you would like this one! Am so happy, its my favorite performance of Sridevi. I dont think you both fully grasped her comedic timing, but her "devuda, devuda, devuda" (repeating the name of God when she is tensed) became iconic. A lot of the comedy was in the language but you caught her expressions and eyes. The film is like RGV's ode to Sridevi the way the camera and the story follows her. Venkatesh jokingly is to have said that even though he is the leading man in this film, its all about Sridevi. To understand this you have to know the times in 1991. Venkatesh was a big , big star at the time, in Telugu but Sridevi was a super star in all of India already! This is after Mr. India and Chalbaaz in Hindi.

Kiru

Finally! OG RGV !!

Naveen

I would highly suggest Chiranjeevi movie "Rudraveena" Directed by K Balachander, 1988 in Telugu..

vikram

I am glad you liked it too! This was a surprise!

Jill Jacobson

Oh... now you started watching real Telugu cinema.

Aakaanksha Srivatsav

Glad you guys liked it! You guys should also watch Shiva, his first film. It was also experimental in a way for its time And you’ve seen Venkatesh in some recent trailers. him, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna (lead in Shiva) and so on are all huge Telugu stars in the 90s and 00s
