Nothing to do with censoring for this film.

What i read was that there was audience feedback about excessive length of the film hence director cut some scenes.

A fan made a "Potato Cut" as they call it putting all the deleted scenes in their proper place with subtitles. The 1st time I watched it without those scenes I loved it. Almost teared up. When I watched it with the cut scenes I cried openly. Its hard to explain why but those scenes really added to the emotion. Its sad they cut it out. I understood (I think) the political references to the Sri Lankan civil war and I assume protests that occured.

Also…it was not cut for OTT…they cut it like 4 or 5 days after the theatrical.. so people who went to theaters after the 5th day watched the cut version… its the same version that has now carried over to OTT…the director must have painfully cut it… there is an interview of him explaining why he cut it as well

The director decided to cut it due to the political messaging and the extended story telling was felt by a good number of people “as not needed” and it is “deviating” from the film… i think its a load of bull crap… the story and the political views placed by Karthi in the movie only adds to his nature and persona… it was enhanced when you watch it together…i really hope you guys get the full version and you react to it and see how you feel

It was cut because audiences were getting bored, so the filmmakers cut 15 mins. The film still works great, so they thought wisely about what to cut, but I have never seen a place where films get cut while they are playing in theatres.
