I felt even Korbin wasn’t enjoying it. Rightfully so.. to sit through that cringe acting is tough. Sadly Asin has not been associated with a single good Hindi movie.

Avoided the Hindi one, couldn’t put myself through to watch her again in the same role. Maybe she is better in other movies?

2024-09-25 16:14:14 +0000 UTCAnushka’s debut movie was Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, not TMRDH. That was the name of a song in the movie. People tend to love characters like Kalpana. I think that had something to do with why she won the debut awards. Look at how popular Geet from Jab We Met is or Anjali from K3G.

2024-09-25 15:35:24 +0000 UTCI didn’t see it before but watching this reaction is making me realize how much overacting Asin is doing BUT I also don’t think it’s her fault per se— it’s the director, the type of acting she was trained with back then. I feel like she is not one to blame. Crazy enough she won the best debut female filmfare award same year Anuskha was nominated for Tujh Mein Arab Dikta Hai and while one can argue Asin already was in the South version of this role so is it really a debut, there was nothing that stood out to me back then about Anushka in that movie. But maybe her performance was more grounded….idk idk. I just remember people going crazy for Aamir and his transformation in this role.

2024-09-25 01:50:57 +0000 UTCOkay a few pointers going forward - 1. I don't know who said this but it is not a remake of Memento. It borrows the memory loss and revenge theme of it but everything else is its own thing. So more of an adaptation. So Rick is going to be disappointed if he is going to reference Memento to compare like he did with Bang Bang which was actually a remake. 2. This is not an action film. This is a love story at its core with a tragic loss which leads to the protagonist's need for revenge and the action is happening because of that. So if you are not invested in the love story, it will not work. 3. As I saw the first part watchalong, there were a lot of instances where I expected a reaction or some realisation which never happened because either there was disinterest or some joke going on and some of these moments were missed. 4. With Steph I feel these moments will be picked up as I feel she is really smart with these things. Also the love story part of it will work much better with her which will make the other parts of the film more interesting. 5. Regarding if it gets better, yeah it does. The movie is going in all kinds of direction in the first hour because it is trying to set up the premise. But once you realise what is happening and why is it happening it gets much better because then you are with the protagonist and want him to achieve his objective. But yeah, point to note is that it will shift tones a lot because we are dealing with his past and present, both of which are completely different worlds so it will feel like we are toggling continuously between romance and action but let it do its thing and I believe the latter part will get much more engaging. 6. To conclude, yeah I feel it will be better with Steph. Anyway I felt such movies are better with her. If you look for good artistry with amazing acting by everyone, this is not it. What is it? A nice love and revenge story which will pull at your heartstrings and make you badly want Aamir to do what he wants to do and keeps writing - 'Kill Ghajini'.
