I totally agree.. my sister and I
Keep a bottle of bourbon in the cupboard during large family gatherings. Every time we get annoyed we slip away and take a long drink from the bottle 😅 even though we are expected to do things we don’t particularly care for we might as well be drinking whilst doing it 🥴🤣

Rick was spot on about the show's writing, it uses everyday mundane things in a village life to say big things.
And YES, people need to say learn 'no', but in most indian families, it's basically a bad manners to say no when your relatives/elders ask you to do something, specially during weddings

Like I said the American in me comes out when I see other people thinking they are entitled to things pisses me off and I refuse to be taken advantage of

Its funny to see such extreme views and reactions from both Rick snd Korbin towards the villagers .. and are on The protagonist's side..
Whereas as an Indian, I am automatically on the villager's side..
the gun is a cultural part of village weddings.. its symbolic if ppl belong to a certain warrior clan like the Rajputs..

Remember one episode in which Abhishek's friend visited the village. He was very excited but got bored in few hours 😄

This is one of my favorite episodes of Panchayat series ..
One thing that cannot be translated is the sweetness of the Hindi dialect thats of Uttar Pradesh. There is an endearing quality to it , a rhythmic tone in which characters speak. Sachivji is not exactly what Mr.Secretary sounds like in English ..
They all respectfully talk to each other . The tone is what doesnt let the main guy cross the line ... In contrast, Sachivji (Abhishek) is more direct , and quite rude comparatively

The groom was also in Mirzapur. Maqbool's nephew.
The lighting guy at 16:50 is the director of the show.

Thanks Korbin, keep the episodes coming. Love rewatching it all with you guys and really enjoying listening to your thoughts and views. “Basic simplicity with deep message” well said 👏 reminds me why over the years OSR still remains my fav reaction channel. I’ve watched other reactions here and there but none seemed to have understood the essence of the show nicely wrapped under its simplicity and humor.
