Not only did Deepak throw the match coz he felt he would be putting the whole team in trouble as the opposing guys actually threatened that, he also regretted it coz they brawled after anyways.
I enjoyed the subversion of the regular sports movie trope where the underdog wins after great travails. In fact, this film is more realistic where the underdog is not always the best trained or will win.
I also like how they wrote the leading man Jojo as a regular guy who does not know what he wants (as Korbin said) or can do and we are learning about him, with him throughout the film.
