The D.Va book is probably the longest project I've ever worked on. It took me six months to finish just over twenty pages. The mechanical designs and intricate lines inside were far more complex than I had anticipated before starting.
By the time I finished it, the public's enthusiasm for the game had already shifted to other themes. At that time, male-oriented NSFW doujinshi creators were like nomads, needing to follow trends to sustain themselves. I had ideas for stories featuring Mercy and Mei, but those never came to fruition.
One unique aspect of making doujinshi in Taiwan is that the audience simultaneously receives firsthand trends from both the East (Japan) and the West (America). If you can't keep up, you'll quickly be left behind. This makes doujinshi creators like the Fremen from Dune, cherishing every drop of water (or creative energy) within themselves.
Surprisingly, even today, people still mention that book to me. It seems that, despite the subject matter no longer being in vogue, the hard work I put in over those six months left a lasting impression.
Given that quite some time has passed, I'm considering gradually releasing the high-resolution files of the D.Va book as rewards.
