2024-09-14 08:47:22 +0000 UTClittle bit of backstory... you're probably aware Megan featured on a version of Butter several years back. it was a 1-1 trade for a bts feature on one of her future tracks (this very one with RM, in fact). but there was a whole kerfuffle where her label tried to block the butter remix at the last minute from releasing, then tried to extort her for a $100k fee before they would "allow" it. bts sent their lawyers to help megan's team, and in the end, she was allowed to release the song, on schedule, AND she didn't pay. happy ending for the artists. so in this song, part of RM's verse talks about that whole situation: "The law, her win And y'all's a fairytale In the end, she's real fair We gotta bear all their nightmares. Shit is a toxic, catch me in a moshpit, you and your people be fussin' Yeah, we just bossin', pour out the sauces in the face of the big bosses Call me a narcissist, like a typhoon, be an artist and be honest Take it out your wallet Sabotage your two ears, I swear if we pause it." RM is basically shouting out how meg beat her predatory label in court... I love it, it gives me warm and fuzzy ally vibes, like he's got her back. plus his deep voice sounds great, and meg is an absolute bombshell. what's not to love? π

He told us a long time ago in a vlive that he purposely raises his voice register usually because when he talks in his normal voice it's hard for others to understand what he says. We've heard it a few times, but I don't recall him ever doing any rapping in BTS using this register.
