[Review] How to Destroy a Perfect Marriage - danoctober

How to Destroy a Perfect Marriage - danoctober

Have you ever read a story, the first instalment of a series, and really liked it? You liked the setup. The characters. The conflict. It all just works for you, even in spite of the flaws that may be there. But then...

This story did that for me.

How To Destroy A Perfect Marriage is a good starting set up for a potential series. It's high on conflict and tension but low on sex. This is one of those stories that is more about the situation and plot than the on screen sex. (There is no on screen sex) So don't go into reading this expecting some 'wank' material.

It's the start of a story of how I wife became obsessed with the idea of having sex with another man and her husband filming it. And how it quickly destroyed everything.

This isn't a long read. But it's packed full of possibilities.

And had the story stopped with this first installment, then I think it would have been a good flash fiction story. The author even invites others to come up with their own continuations or endings.

I wish the author had left it at that.

I promised myself that when I started doing these reviews (I know this is only the second, but I still gave myself some guidelines), I wouldn't go negative.

What I mean by this is that I wouldn't trash an author or a story. If I read something that I didn't like, I wouldn't review it because that wouldn't be necessary. I want to share good stories. Not bad ones. Of course, all of this is subjective. It's my opinion. If you like something and I don't, that doesn't matter. Like what you want and dislike what you want. We can agree to disagree and share our thoughts.

That being said. The author decided to continue the story... and did so in one of the worst ways in my opinion.

Where there was emotional tension and heart-pulling conflict in the first part... the next part become mean spirited and ugly. It feels like the author was projecting some sort of anger onto the page rather than exploring what the characters would be experiencing. The characters became inconsistent, flipping and flopping with emotions. One minute, the male MC is thinking how much he loves his wife. Next he's thinking of her as a b*tch and thinking about assaulting her, doing violence and worse. (It was cringe and distasteful).

It continued for a few more chapters, and it just got worse and worse. I'm not sure what the author was thinking or why they decided to become angry and twisted about the setup, but they made their choice.

Needless to say, please don't go and read the story and give negative reviews or harass the author. Just because I'm giving a critique doesn't mean I think this author is bad or anything. It's just in this particular story that they wrote (besides the first part) they went off the rails for me.

Maybe this will appeal to the BTB crowd. But for me, it just feels like a horrible execution for a really good set up.

My suggestion would be to read the first part (the one I've linked) and then leave it at that.

However, since the original author left the story open for others to jump in and give their own interpretations, I may throw my hat into the ring and write my own ending.

do you ever feel like there is a line that is crossed that the couple can't come back from? People change, and not always for the better. and some of those changes can't be fixed. Here is an example. The current story Trinity. if it simply stayed the course with Cassidy with Jack and Kelly. They have already changed her and their mostly innocent marriage. just using that as an example not as a commentary on that story. Colin isn't really "good" friend with Jack or Kelly. Kelly was Cassidy's best friend. I can think of a thousand ways of Colin finally finding out in a way that is NOT recoverable. Going back to the story being reviewed. There are similarities between Cassidy and Carrie. Both love their husband immensely. Both weren't prepared when an addiction snuck up on them. Both lied and made bad choices. In the real world I ALWAYS wish for reconciliation. Fiction is different. Fiction allows for that "pound of flesh" without collateral damage. To see justice, however measured, right a wrong.

I had read this story.. but I can't remember the second part. There was an author (metropolinational) who did their own version of the story- in two parts that is currently running. https://www.literotica.com/series/se/the-botched-marriage It is night/Day as well. The second part being rough as almost someone different was writing. I agree when you wrote this- If I read something that I didn't like, I wouldn't review it because that wouldn't be necessary. I want to share good stories. Not bad ones. Of course, all of this is subjective. It's my opinion. If you like something and I don't, that doesn't matter. Like what you want and dislike what you want. We can agree to disagree and share our thoughts. i agree. sometimes stories can be really good and the part you debate is the 1% that you saw differently. It doesn't mean you discredit everything else they've written. other times its simply looking at things from a different angle.

Well the first part was okay. As others it got kind of unbelievable. Meh. I've now read the metropolinational version and it pretty mind blowing. I'm surprised more cuckold stories don't end with the husband broken like this actually. I *hated* the last page or so when she recalls all of the truly awful things she said to the bull. That felt unnecessary and of course make it impossible for there to be any reconciliation, which is always my goal. I mean honestly, the husband will likely just kill himself as it is, let alone after he of course finds out this part.

I've read through most of it. It's an interesting take. Still got my own though :D

All - there actually is another version of the story already on LE. https://www.literotica.com/s/the-botched-marriage-ch-01

On another subject does anyone ever get like a bump or ingrown hair or something on the top part of your thigh. And for some reason you keep rubbing it with your thumb or index finger all day without even thinking your doin it. Then end up doing it at an inappropriate times, Like in your female supervisor's office along with you and two women standing around her desk. Just standing reading a print out of a email the supervisor received then you look up at they're just looking at you with their eyes goin from your thigh near the crotch back up to your face like your trying to draw attention to it. Then told to go back to work and one of the women telling you that their pretty sure the email wasn't talking about that when it's mentions coming in below expectations.

And YES! I heartily agree that Vivian should take this story to it’s rightful and probably more fulfilling conclusion. Like what she did with the NC storyline.

I liked the story - I agree that maybe just first or second chapters were enough. Once it got into the retribution cycle things took a turn for the worst. He agreed to it up front - they were watching the same porn together and getting turned on by it. But then she took action and took it to the next level - she didn’t cheat or manipulate him in any way. But then after the deed was done he became a whiny bitch. I think she was sorry about the effect it had on him and feel she was truly sorry for the outcome. He just needed to get over it and move on. They did reconcile in the end but felt all the twists and turns were unnecessary. One thing I can say for the author is that he ENDED the story. Was abrupt and not the best but when it was over - it was over. Difficult to find in some of these stories nowadays that go on and on and on….. But yes I feel that after the first chapter maybe things could take a different direction and make a bit more interesting with the wife being not so honest and up front with ending things with her newfound love of bbc.

Vinny

Nobody said either is "ok". What are you even talking about?

Crowny Succubus

Its ok for the husband to be a cuck and feel inferior but woe to God the wife gets the same treatment and get flack for being a whore?

Omegajack

well to be honest she kinda manipulated him to get her fantasy. he wasn’t at all interested in doing this. so she played a game it turned to shit now it’s no fun. however, metropolinational appears to be doing the same story as ch11 was just posted to loving wives today.
