Paper Mario 64 - v1.1 Release (4K)

08/14 Update - All-Patrons

The file comes with an image showing the best settings (GlideN64) and an updated guide for Project64 and RetroArch (Readme).

I decided to upgrade this version and now all the patrons will have exclusive 4K textures (starting with background and enviroments).

I agree 100%. This is due to the nature of us being granted use of an HTC file, instead of a 'Pack of Textures'. Master Killa's work is great. I just wish we could really appreciate it as it orginally is, or in an SVG, PNG, TIFF, file format.

Anyone noticing the high res texture being applied a little different in retroarch/Mupen64 compared to Project64?

I started developing it for Dolphin but since it runs worse(Even with my 6700K-Gtx1070) I moved to N64. I could upload the Dolphin Port Beta 1. There's a video in my channel showing it.

Will you ever release this as a dolphin version? I like to play in 3d and Dolphin makes that super easy, while it's currently impossible to do with any native solution using GlideN64.

just got around to downloading Project64 (retroarch is currently having major issues right now and idk why.) and so far the visuals are absolutely stunning when playing. I am having a few buffered frames when making my save file but havent ran into any other buffering frames yet. will update if I do.

Sorry I can't share the "source code". I know some people who are trying to steal my work taking all the credits. I spent long hours making it, even I stayed awake until 3am. I have some friends who help with original design, I'm reworking Bowser's face and making more BG. Dolphin is not necessary. It runs slower than N64 and I really mean it because I started the project at Dolphin. I hope you undertand.

SIXTYFORCE, AND SOMETIMES A COUSTOM BUILD I PUT TOGETHER OF DOLPHIN AND Mugen. Both programs just take the PNG files and converts them automatically, whilst the other emulator simply needs the png files in a folder it uses an algorithm utilizing ai, with help from being a dev for Nvidia I have a0ccrss to said tools. The AI sorts files into subgroups and tosses any unnecessary files. So long as you can post that unorginizsd folder and just rename it to NAE01 my emulators will take care of the rest. Oh on another note entirely, I'm aware of another team who are interested in helping you with your project, this team has been developing a simmalar project and would love to see thier worked combined with your own. They're all professionals in the Gamming world, having that simmalar passion for the Paper Mario games of old. Lastly at worst can the textures be extracted from the HTC file by myself? I'm surprised you figured out how to give ol bowser a white outline, his textures and many of the bosses do not have the same sprite structure say as Mario and many other characters have.

Thanks for joining! What emulator are you trying to use? GlideN64 is the most updated version yet. About the files (png) it would take some time because the folders have image editors, psd and more (it's not in order). I made HTC because it's easier to use and a lot of emulators use those files nowadays

Can we please have a zip folder containing the texture files themselves. Unfortunately not all of us utilize mupen. My N64 emulator needs the textures in rice format like yours already are, yet, the HTC file will not work. The program takes a zip folder with the textures held within instead of an HTC file. Can you please post this here for us top dollar supporters. I am one of the members of TheSuperPaperMario4k team, thus I know this is an extremely easy thing, regarding posting a zip file with the textures held within it instead of and HTC file. Hello I love your job with this HD texture pack, I want to know if anyone has a little glitches with Mario textures in retroarch in nintendo switch, Mario appear cropped on the back of his cap and the textures are something blurry, I think it's a problem of the emulator, but if someone have a tip for the best settings of retroarch in nintendo switch with this game I'll appreciate the help. Thanks!

Some users report textures issues with the European version "Paper Mario 64 (E)". I recommend to use the (U) version at the momment. I would try to fix those texture issues in the next updates. Stay tuned!

Hi there. First of i am loving the work you have done so far. I do have a problem that it seems that not all textures seem to load into the game. Do you know what might cause this? i am using the gliden64 public version 3.0

I’m loving it so far, It feels great to play and looks great too. Excited for the upcoming updates as well, but I mean, already looks so good, especially when the old models clip for a split frame and you realize just how fresh and polished it looks now. This is something I dreamed of and I’m so happy with the results thus far, keep up the good work! Also the graphics saved and worked when I did both the hire_texture and cache file with the texture pack for those wondering, (I manually created them in new folder and added to GFX, and it worked)

Try to use GlideN64 3.0 or Glide64 Final. If it didn't work, load default settings and don't change anything except load hires textures.

Try to use an american z64 version. Does it happen with any other n64 game? You can try with an old GlideN64 version.

Perhaps you are using settings per-game. Try to load default settings in-game and use the same I have. GlideN64 4.0 has some issues, you can with 3.0. Remember to put the HTC at hires_texture and cache folder. Let me know if you fixed it.

I discovered your project today and can't overstate how exciting this is. I do also need a bit of help-- I'm having a black screen with only sound working issue, and from what I've gathered, I THINK maybe the problem is my ROM? I've gone over the settings over and over again... This is with Project64. I can try the other emulator options.

EDIT: Solution posted in a response below MK's comment. Need help: My settings in Project64 weren't saving, so then I ran as Administrator and they saved. But now the textures won't load (I'm just seeing the original graphics). They were loading before, but now even when I don't run the program as Administrator, they're still not loading. I'm assuming running as Admin changed some settings beyond just the 'Video' and 'Texture Enhancement' tabs, because those look the same as the screenshot provided in the mod download here. Perhaps some additional screenshots of other tabs/windows would help to make sure that we're on the same page.

Elden Ring DLC

I love the effort being put into this project, and it really shows. I do have a few slight things bugging me, like how some characters have black outlines and no shading, while others have some shading and slightly colored outlines. The biggest thing to me though is the fact that Twink doesn’t have a mouth. It just seems...off to me...and makes him feel less...fun... Other than that, all of this is fantastic. Can’t wait to see what it will look like in the end.

This project is coming along great, I love how you put effort into detail, even the smallest stuff, like the flowers in peaches castle and like lighting up the wood in the Mario house, it seems like you added more vibrant colors this time, which brings the background more to life. The new font for text is what sells it best for me! It makes it look a million times more detailed. Personally I feel like the sky needs a little more “blue” to it but this is looking super great!
