What Good Collaboration Looks Like

Where to Start • Lesson Archive • Recommended Lesson PlanBook a Private Lesson

Hi Everyone,

This little talk takes you through a variety of topics centered around writing music with other people. If you've never done it before, it can be daunting. But with a little openness and communication, collaborative writing can be a lot of fun.

I talk a bit about what to expect, some tools for navigating collaborations, and some friendly reminders to keep it fun and engaging.

This talk sets you up for tomorrow's Community Challenge, where you'll be asked to collaborate with a fellow Patron. If you're already active on the Community Forum, feel free to reach out to a fellow patron about writing together. If you're not on the community forum yet, first make sure that your 7 day trial is complete before learning how to sign up here.

You can also ask for collaborators in the chat below: feel free to share what your preferences are. You could write something like "I like writing melodies, chord progressions, but not lyrics" - or "I'm a good generalist looking for a detail oriented person. I like singing" or "I don't like singing, but I like writing riffs and grooves"

Just don't forget you can't share your collaboration without joining the community forum!
