Hi Everyone,

Question 1 from Tristan boils down to this idea of mixing major and minor scales in a blues situation - I gave a basic blues lesson and explained a range of scales you might find in a blues situation, including the magical mixing of major and minor scales.

Question 2 from Jeff was about exporting (called Bouncing) a track out of Logic Pro X

Question 3 - Keith was asking about fretting hand technique to avoid unwanted string noise up by the 15th fret.

Question 4 - Mason wanted to know how I developed my thumb independence to learn songs like Windy and Warm

There were a few other nice questions at the end - Continue the conversation on the community forum.

MY BAND has been putting out new music, and we'll continue putting out more and more this year - check it out!

That was exactly the answer I was looking for! Thank you! I wasn't familiar with the word Bounce. Doing it the way you suggested changed the levels between tracks. For instance, vocals got way softer. I will def look at the Mastering.

Hey Scott, you've played windy and warm before... can you talk about your learning process/experience and developing thumb independence?

Mason

Hey, Scott! I’m about to start driving home so I can’t comment but I’m listening!

Hey Scott, I am having trouble in Logic Pro X getting the exported tracks to sound like the preview in the app. I am setting the volumes in each track but that info doesn't seem to make it to the export. Could you show how you export a track from Logic? Thanks!

Jeff Sanders

Hello Scott, hope you’re doing well! So I came across a video about mixing minor and major scales to get more of a “blues” sound. Blues music is what got me into wanting to play the guitar, but I find it hard to find content that dives deep into learning blues music on guitar, especially in a easy-to-understand way like your teaching method. Anyways, the video was talking about playing an A minor pentatonic scale in the first position, which I guess would be the G shape. The point of the video was that if you play the second position, or “E shape” over the first, you get a bluesy type sound. I was wondering if you could go into a little more detail on this, explain how it works, and give some other examples as I’ve been playing around with that A minor scale and I like the sound, but it’s difficult for me to adjust properly without seeing more as I’m a highly visual learner. Hope this makes sense and look forward to hearing from you! Thank you!
